What is happening at Chelsea: Another Chelsea Defender injured after Gary Cahill
David Luiz has suffered yet more frustration after picking up a knock in training, the Mirror reports.
Pictures have emerged in the reports showing Luiz needing treatment during a training session at Cobham. The severity of the injury remains unclear.
Players such as Luiz and Danny Drinkwater have been training at the club’s facilities while some of his team-mates are away on international duty.
This comes as a blow to the Brazilian after he saw his long-term future at the club thrown into doubt after being dropped against Manchester United.
The defender was forced to watch from the stands as Chelsea took all three points at Stamford Bridge against United.
Antonio Conte claimed the decision to leave the former Paris Saint-Germain defender out of the side was purely tactical, but later said that the Brazilian needs to work as hard as those around him to get back into the team.
Various reports have linked with the ‘fall-out’ between Luiz and Conte to the defender’s friendship with Diego Costa, but that does not appear to be the main root of the issue at hand.
CHELSEA legend Gianfranco Zola has been surprised by the consistency shown by Alvaro Morata so far this season.
Morata joined Chelsea from Real Madrid in the summer for a fee that could rise to £70million.
The Spain international has already netted seven times in 10 Premier League appearances for his new side.
Zola knows Morata well having watched him during his two years in Italy with Juventus.
He says the 25-year-old is one of the most talented strikers with the ball at his feet in the world.
But he admits he did not expect him to be putting it together week in, week out like he is doing.
“I knew (Morata) already from Italy,” Zola told ESPN.
“I knew already he had very good qualities but what is surprising me, something I didn’t know he had, is the consistency he’s having so far.
“I’ve always said he is a very good player, talented, with his feet one of the most skilled football players in his position in the world.
“What is improving being in this league is being strong, being determined, something that, honestly, I didn’t know he had.
“It’s very good obviously for him, it’s good for Chelsea and hopefully it can continue like this.”
Morata is in the Spain squad for their upcoming friendlies against Costa Rica tomorrow and Russia on Tuesday.
