Another injury blow for Chelsea As 2 Chelsea players already injured during International duty including Morata
Chelsea have already received their second injury news from this international break. Blues striker Alvaro Morata missed Spain’s training session due to a toe injury, which is fortunately a very small one compared to his hasmtring problem earlier this season.
Now, the injury list gets another name written to it as Chelsea skipper Gary Cahill has injured himself in England’s national team training and is doubtful for their friendly match against Germany on Friday night, Sky Sports reports.
The Three Lions are also missing key players such as Tottenham stars Harry Kane and Dele Alli, Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling and Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson this break.
The good news are that Chelsea loanee Ruben Loftus-Cheek is set to make his senior debut against the Germans tomorrow, according to Sky Sports.
It’s expected that Cahill will be fit to face West Bromwich next week’s Saturday when the Blues return to Premier League action.
England boss Gareth Southgate has revealed that Danny Drinkwater turned down the opportunity to feature in the friendly internationals with Germany and Brazil.
Since making the switch to Stamford Bridge in August, Drinkwater has made just one start and three substitute appearances for Chelsea in all competitions, all of which have come since October 25.
However, despite having seemingly recovered from a calf injury, Southgate has said that Drinkwater had asked not to feature in the Wembley double-header, starting with Germany on Friday night.
The 44-year-old told BBC Radio 5 live: “I spoke to Danny earlier in the week but he feels he is not fit enough to play.”
Drinkwater has earned three caps for England, the last of which came in May 2016
